Six Scorched Roses is a wonderful novella addition to the Crowns of Nyaxia novels. I found Lilith to be an interesting and refreshing female protagonist—a 30 year old woman who pursued knowledge (and didn’t know how to use a weapon). We see that she was scientific and aloof in her relationships, determined at times to blindness. She has been sick since birth, yet this is the story of how she wants to help the sick in her village, which has been plagued.

While this is a shorter book, it goes at a steady pace—there is less action but a great focus on Lilith’s relationships, primarily with Vale, a vampire, and her sister Mina. Outside of that, there are very few other characters. Still, the relationships we see are fully textured even in less than 200 pages. I could feel the emotion between Lilith and Mina. I could wholly grasp the connection with Vale and feel invested in their romance. I loved every bit of it.

I wish this book had added more to the world building of the Crowns of Nyaxia. It didn’t feel like it fleshed out much on that front, where I felt the Nightborn Duet created quite a vivid world.

This was a wonderful, romantic tale that I wholeheartedly enjoyed and cherish in this series.
