Heart of Dust by H.L. Moore

4.0

I ended up giving it a 3.5 but we know GR doesn't round.

I really enjoyed this book! It ended up being a lot more character-driven than anything else, but I honestly didn't have a problem with that, it made the final act that much more engaging. I found myself really invested in the relationship between Doran and Nathaniel, and Doran with his Black Lung Gang.
On the other hand I didn't really feel the presence of the antagonist in the story up until the climax, where a lot popped off (in a good way) and then we were past it and dealing with Doran and his life again.
Overall, I'm really looking forward to the sequel and I do definitely recommend this.
