The Summoning at the Edge by J.B. Wiggins

4.0

"The Summoning, at the Edge" is a captivating fantasy novel that transports readers into the enchanting world of Dohman. We follow Zandra, a woman from Earth, as she unexpectedly finds herself transported to this realm. In Dohman Zandra navigates a society divided among Mortals, magicians and warriors, all while embracing her surroundings with determination. The authors attention to detail in world building was immaculate. Action packed fight scenes had me fully absorbed in the narrative. While I thoroughly enjoyed Zandras character development, I did wish for opportunities to witness her growth amidst occasional time jumps. I believe those time jumps often kept me from creating close connections with the supporting characters as well. Besides that, "The Summoning at the Edge" is a great read. It takes readers on a journey, through a beautifully crafted fantasy realm. If you are looking for a quick fantasy read with amazing details, a relatable main character, with hints of romance, read this book!

Specific Spoilers/Side Notes:

* Still mad at David for letting Zandra get beat up
* I love Benjamin (I really wish there weren’t so many time skips so I could have seen them grow together more)
* I find it funny how Zandra hasn’t gone back to explore the elder ruins and maybe try to find a way back to earth? Like I know she’s satisfied in Dohman, but still
* Who the heck was that guy that was trying to get at her while she was locked up on magician territory?
* I don’t want her to cheat on Benjamin but at the same time, I just know the magician love interest is going to be top tier
