The Sacrifice by Emily Shore

Did not finish book. Stopped at 14%.
I've been trying to make a point of not rating my DNF books this year, but I feel like this one needs some recognition.

At 46% this was a messy, chaotic, and poorly written dumpster fire. I won't go into details (in case someone wants to read it anyway) but the writing it's self gave me the ick far more than the content. The content on the other hand felt like it was written for shock factor and virtually nothing else.

Wanting to give it the benefit of the doubt, and assuming I was being too harsh and potentially missing something, I popped online... only to find we have an author behaving badly. From being petty and using a negative review to promote their book in a tasteless way (IE mean girl level of pettiness and shade throwing to the reader), to bullying reviewers in comment sections... yeah no, that solidified my choice to DNF, and never read one of Shores books again.

I understand an author defending their book
They have the right to feel angry or upset about negative reviews. But readers also have the right to feel negatively about a book WITHOUT HAVING TO WORRY ABOUT THEN BEING PUT ON FUCKING BLAST BY THE AUTHOR FOR THEIR LEGITIMATE AND FAIR REVIEW.
