The Unwomanly Face of War: An Oral History of Women in World War II by Svetlana Alexiévich

challenging dark emotional sad slow-paced
I've read two of Svetlana's other books, so it surprised me that "The Unwomanly Face of War" was still the so shocking, so heart breaking. Such young women facing unimaginable suffering. This book is not long but it took me over a month to finish. This is a very difficult read.

Svetlana is a Nobel prize winner for good reason. These women's stories, bleak as they are, cannot be lost from history.
