The Academy of the Dead by Vermilion H. Baine

5.0

"I look forward to never seeing you again, Atticus Blackwell. Goodbye."

This is book two in a series of interconnected standalones and I enjoyed it just as much as I did The Fey Hotel. I seriously loved the characters' appearances from The Fey Hotel. If ever there was a family in this series I wanted to know more about it was the Abernanthys. This book follows Atticus and Maddox who started as friends before decisions were made and found themselves being rivals. The two hadn't seen each other in years, until Atticus invites Maddox to uncover the secrets of a lost page of the Book of the Dead they find each other seeing a lot more of each other. These two are obsessed with each other. Is it healthy? Well, no. Did I devour it? Yes. I enjoyed reading a more unhinged version of Vermilion's writing.
