I took up a recommendation from a friend who is a sports romance enthusiast. I’m not so sure if it’s for me, at least not this style and surprisingly the sports were not the issue. This is the story of Soren a hockey player who is the first in the NHL to come out of the closet And his long term crush on Jet the rock star. The story the first quarter cuts between Soren and Jet finding themselves on vacation with their mutual friends after avoiding  each other for years in Fiji reminiscing on their initial hookup three years ago before Soren was friends with Jet’s brother and how they aren’t sure they should reignite their past passions. I liked that portion of the book but it very quickly turned into them being absolutely wrapped around each other mentally and physically. I guess I prefer my romances with more sexual tension and this seemed to very quickly settle into Soren and Jet being so sure of each other very quickly. The story instead switches to the story conflict centering on outside hardships like how Soren and Jet are supposed to spend time together with their respective careers keeping them on the road or Jet’s ex boyfriend who is still in the closet and the headliner of Jet’s band’s tour making things awkward. I guess some people may want their couple to be together more but I just can’t stomach reading people who have spent 20 collective hours together awake thinking about giving up their careers they are so sure they are in love. Maybe that is just me though and my own problem.
