It’s a hard balance in a monster romance to make the book more than just p*rn but not bogging it down in too many details. I don’t think the author found the right balance here. I think the magical plot became more important than the romance but the author wanted to write the smut more. The consequences of the magical conflict seemed way more important and necessary to deal with than their relationship but at the same time never felt detailed enough for my investment. So while the couple deals with their relationship, you question if that’s the most important issue at hand but also it’s the most interesting part of the book so you don’t want to move away from it. Overall it was fun, I will probably read more of the series, but it isn’t as all consuming as other monsters romances have been for me.
