The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden

5.0

This series finished on such a gorgeous high note that I don't want a continuation and or further stories of Vasya and her Death/Winter King. It is perhaps the best fairy-tale/retelling/fantasy series I've completed since finishing Fitz and the Fool. (High praise, right?)

The growth of the main character is one I've come to really adore and look back upon with fondness. So much have I read stories in which the main character is obsessed with finding the male to solve her issues and or the story takes a detour when the couple reunite. Not this story. But hey, she has done so much for Russia that she has to be rewarded somewhere. (That's all I'm gonna say!)

Honestly. If you want a story in which sacrifice, beauty, family, romance, and growth all come together in a glorious finale, this is the book. This is the series. This needs to be adapted to film.
