Reading this book felt like I was only getting a surface-level story. Georgina’s power was something that, for me at least, was easy to catch early enough into the story that when it was revealed it felt underwhelming.
This book definitely broaches an important topic for girls of Georgina and Mary’s age, but it isn’t revealed or discussed until the very end of the book so even that sort of felt rushed through. You could see signs of SA leading up to the reveal, but for statistics of it to be the first thing written in the acknowledgments, the actual discussion of it in the story felt brief.
Overall, the base for a good story is there but the writing felt redundant and shallow.
