In the debut novel from Banta, we meet pop sensation Amber and follow her on her path to stardom. The highs. The lows. The friends. The hurts. The heartbreaks. The loves. What made Amber the sensation she became.

I had mixed feelings throughout this book. I enjoyed how it was told, and I kept picturing these scenarios happening to real world pop princesses such as Britney Spears.
However, it felt like Banta couldn't decide how she wanted to write the story. For "Honey" to be just a work of fiction or a fictional biography and the bouncing back and forth was frustrating. It was also hard at times to pinpoint who was talking because the conversations were strung together awkwardly.

I think I would have loved this book had it stayed as a fictional biography with Amber looking back on her life. This was still a beautiful, emotional read and I can't wait to see what else Banta writes!

Thank you so much to Celadon Books for an ARC of this story! All opinions are my own!
