Most of my understanding of Frankenstein comes from movies, which are not super faithful to the source material (shocking, I know). I thought it was interesting that comparatively little time in the novel is spent on the how of the monster’s creation, and instead most of the story is about the consequences of that ill-condsidered act. I also didn’t expect the monster to be so sympathetic or human.
Some of the narration dragged a bit as Frankenstein laments his personal misfortunes (many of which, he caused and refused to take ownership of). But the writing was lovely and rich.
