The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune
4.0
This is one of those books that needs to be read in a single setting. I feel like I waited too long to read it only because I was so busy.
I normally never read fantasy books, in fact I have zero interest in them regardless of how good people say they are. However, after everyone said that you don’t need to like fantasy in order to like this I finally finished it and what a beautiful book it is.
Linus Baker has lead a fairly normal life. In fact so normal, that he has the same routine every single day- Going to the job that he’s incredibly good at however he’s is a social worker and has pushed aside the fact that these kids are often abused and instead has just follow the rules and regulation book on how to do the job.
When Linus is assigned to go to a new house, where all the kids have some mystical powers, it’s so unlike his daily routine that he’s not sure how he is going to take it. At first he considers it just a job, but instead becomes incredibly attached to the kids and their powerful forces.
So much more about this but can be said without revealing anything who is actually reading this review. The book is truly about how different people, regardless of what may or may not be considered moral or immoral, are still human beings and have feelings and can love just like anybody else..
