The Egyptian Coffin by Jane Jakeman

2.0

This is another of those books that I expected to like a lot and ended up being rather ambivalent about. I was hoping for more about Egypt in the plot and really, it seemed to be less of a integral part of the plot, more like a stage backdrop. The characters lacked depth. Supposedly it is set in 1830, but I really had a hard time identifying the time period as such. Mostly, the historical details were like a tease - all promise and no delivery. I pretty much figured out who the villians were from the outset. The human-trafficking subplot wasn't that surprising either. I'll pass on reading the rest of the series.
