I was so happy with how this book explored Feyre's trauma and addressed some of the issues I noticed in the first book, namely which was subtle in the first book. The character evolution that Feyre continues to undergo is sincere and beautiful.
Sarah J. Maas does a lot of great things with her writing (world-building, spice, description), but creating strong, interesting characters (especially female/women characters) is her greatest strength as a literary voice. All of the new characters we meet are fully fleshed out, with extensive backstories that makes pulling back the layers incredibly satisfying. I just don't want to let them go.
Once I was 3/4 of the way through the book I started to experience terrible anxiety about the fate of our beloved characters, like keep-me-tossing-and-turning-all-night anxiety. I know the end of the series will have me crying but I want them to be tears of joy and not gut-wrenching heartbreak. Mother of the cauldron, hear my prayer.
