I was so happy with how this book explored Feyre's trauma and addressed some of the issues I noticed in the first book, namely
SpoilerTamlin's abusive controlling nature
which was subtle in the first book. The character evolution that Feyre continues to undergo is sincere and beautiful.

Sarah J. Maas does a lot of great things with her writing (world-building, spice, description), but creating strong, interesting characters (especially female/women characters) is her greatest strength as a literary voice. All of the new characters we meet are fully fleshed out, with extensive backstories that makes pulling back the layers incredibly satisfying. I just don't want to let them go.

Once I was 3/4 of the way through the book I started to experience terrible anxiety about the fate of our beloved characters, like keep-me-tossing-and-turning-all-night anxiety. I know the end of the series will have me crying but I want them to be tears of joy and not gut-wrenching heartbreak. Mother of the cauldron, hear my prayer.
