Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman
Did not finish book. Stopped at 56%.
Too much rape and brutally murdered children for me, personally.
I also think the third person omniscient POV was poorly done - if it’s not clear who’s thoughts we’re reading until halfway through a paragraph we either have to re-read portions or continue with muddled context. There’s no way to tell when perspective shifts, either.
I also think it’s far too episodic, almost like the trio is progressing through video game levels.
While the mythological horror of the angels and devils was intriguing, the actual horror of normal humans was a little too much for me to stomach at this point in time.
