Don't You Cry by Mary Kubica

3.0

Very meh. The book is written as two different storylines, from two different characters’ perspectives. The only problem is, the writer doesn’t bother to change the voices in the least, at any point in the book. It’s the same voice throughout the entire novel, even when one character goes on and on describing how unintelligent they believe themselves to be in one paragraph, only to use giant, unnecessary vocabulary in the next that I literally had to Google because I had no idea what some of the words meant. I was an English major in college by the way. Words are my thing. I’m just saying, you don’t need to use a thesaurus to write a good story.

As for the story, it was just interesting enough to keep me reading. I didn’t expect the twist and there were definitely some exciting parts. But overall not my favorite. Mary Kubica’s Local Woman Missing was definitely better.
