Wishinghym Academy and the Curse of Huyeguiqi by E.M. Foley

3.0

Wishinghym Academy and the Curse of Huyeguiqi follows Violet as she returns to her old school in the Scottish Highlands after a year away due to her families secrets catching up with her. After a students goes missing Violet and a group of new (and old) friends must gang together to discover the truth, adopting the name the Silencios in the process. The mystery leads them on an adventure to mysterious keys, ancient artefacts and riddles that they must follow. Will Violet and the Silencios find out the truth?

This book has such a dark academia aesthetic, it’s absolutely perfect to read in autumn. The characters are lovable and fun, with quick comebacks that make this book a fast read. There’s good LGBT rep and the romances are very sweet.
I did find it hard to keep up with which pov it was at some points as they changed quickly and the formatting wasn’t always clear as to who’s point it was. Overall, it’s very impressive that this is written by a sixteen year old and definitely deserves the support. It’s great to get you into the autumnal vibe!
