The Painting by Charis Cotter

4.0

3.75*

I thought this book was an enjoyable read that centred around the ideas of family, love, loss, and forgiveness. Although the first bit felt slow to me, the last half was fantastic as we learn more about Claire and why her relationship with Maisie is so frayed. The mystery in this book was also fantastic because the whole time you're trying to figure out the lives of these two girls. The aspect of ghosts in this novel was also interesting and quite enjoyable. Part of the reason why I didn't give it a higher rating is because I didn't feel like I connected with the characters as much as I'd like to and the first third of the book felt sort of slow to me. That was sort of a sum of what I felt while reading it, but I do have a review on my blog :) https://bookbloggingforfun.wordpress.com/2017/10/16/the-painting-book-review/
