La Femme de Gilles by Madeleine Bourdouxhe
3.0
Had to be very open minded with this one, and really put myself in the setting and time period this book was written in. Because the main character annoyed me so much lol. Like, artistically and narratively I can understand the merit of how she was acting but it was also frustrating! I think it did speak a lot, not so much to only passion, but to the necessity placed upon staying with your (male) partner, having someone to provide for you. This wasn't so clearly stated, but it really seemed to me that there was a fear of letting go to this comfortable life Elisa was in, even if she was betrayed. Perhaps that was just my reading of it.
