The Lonesome Bodybuilder: Stories by Yukiko Motoya

Absurd, vivid and captivating. I was entranced by the often whimsical, borderline off-putting imagery. As a fan of Haruki Murakami's writing the weirdness was just right; it was weird, but not in a way that felt cold to me, the stories have a heart.
My favourite stories were The Lonesome Bodybuilder, I Called You By Name and Q&A. I can see myself coming back to this collection for a reread in the future.
