I Will Always Write Back: How One Letter Changed Two Lives by Caitlin Alifirenka, Martin Ganda
5.0
A pen pal exchange that lasted for years and changed two family’s’ lives forever. This was a remarkable story and I was particularly fascinated by how Caitlin - the young American from Pennsylvania, took a simple spark of curiosity and let it shape her into such an inspiring human being.
On some level, I started thinking maybe all the feel-good vibes I had should be questioned as yet another white savior story. But then I decided that was me putting a spin on the this true life experience that obviously deeply affected not only Martin but his entire family - I think the generosity Caitlin showed impacted her family as well. I think there was enormous emotional and personal development occurring for both main characters and their families collectively.
