The Two Towers by J.R.R. Tolkien
4.0
This book has a pretty unique pattern, since the Fellowship, now split in two, goes on different adventures and instead of going back and forth between the characters, we follow one side up to the end, and then start at the beginning again with the other side. It takes a while to adjust to, because you're just left wondering what Sam + Frodo are up to. Which is something that bothered me a little.
One thing that I loved about the first book (all of them going on this adventure together, their companionship) was just ripped out of my hands. But after accepting it for what it is, I was able to enjoy this ride.
The second part gets way darker than the first one and some of the developments surprised me. There's lots of interesting dynamics between characters, and many many sweet moments between Sam and Frodo that made me feel like melting. And a certain characters sudden change knocked me off my feet.
