This book wastes no time getting into the plot. The pacing itself is reasonably slow, however.

It very much is what it says on the tin: an exploration of trauma and healing through the device of lycanthropy. While there are some dark moments, and the book does not shy away from its more upsetting material, the overall tone is quite light-hearted.

At times I found this to be to the detriment of the narrative, but every time I found my attention drifting the book very expertly weaves in an incredibly accurate discussion of trauma - particularly sexual trauma - which hits hard.

I did feel very seen by this book, and I think the protagonist's emotional growth is really the heart and soul of the story, which is refreshing.

The side characters are realistically flawed and generally very well written. The writing itself flows well and lends itself well to completing the book in one sitting.

Overall, I would highly recommend.
