This book and its predecessor were both entertaining and I plan to read the third when it comes out if just because I am still unsure where the whole thing is going. While I enjoyed this book, I found it hadany of the same issues as the first, though perhaps even amplified a bit. The writing style is overly pretentious and the plot is confusing yet also kinda nonexistent. A lot happened in this book and yet I feel like very little actually happened. There are so many characters and timelines and the way the book jumps back and forth out of chronological order gets confusing at times. I think the biggest strength of this series is the magic system and world building and I would have liked to see those expanded upon more. I'm hoping the third installment ties the loose ends up nicely and brings a clearer message to the series as I am left confused about what I am supposed to take away from this or why I should care about the characters.
