I loved this story. It takes the series to a new level in so many surprising ways. Enter the world of infidelity among the royals; arranged (loveless) marriages to ensure a powerful bloodline--with witches and vampires each having their own agenda. It's a fascinating journey that continues the saga of Gwen's family. In this installment, you get to follow Rose and her adventures. When I met her in the previous book, she was an arrogant, proud little girl who flirted with the danger Matvi offered. A few years later, she's matured, but still the feisty person she was before. Her feelings of being second-best to everyone in her life make her fight harder to be better than others. What would it take for someone to accept and love her the way she wants? You can't help but love Rose despite her faults--especially her adoration of Matvi, despite him warning her that he IS the monster her mother thinks he is. Lots of exciting action takes place to keep you up late at night.
