What an absolutely fantastic debut novel!
This book covered some really difficult topics in a very thoughtful way. This book made me laugh and made me cry. I felt so invested in the growth and development of these completely fictional characters. This book felt very insightful and really resonated with me.
This was my favorite quote:
"It’s interesting—when people go through something shitty in life—we think that mentioning it will suddenly make them remember and fall into the darkness. But any person that’s lived through a traumatic event knows that it’s not forgotten. Your world just kind of becomes . . . less light."
I thought that was absolutely beautiful. As someone who has dealt with my fair share of trauma, this felt so thoughtful and validating.
This story had an absolutely beautiful love story but with realistic hurdles.
If I had to use one word to describe this book, it would be beautiful.
