đ I love a good book series and often prefer a series over standalone novels, especially when it comes to YA Fantasy. However, there are so many instances when the sequel of a book isnât as good as the first one⌠and thatâs really disappointing đ.
đ Some book sequels that I incredibly enjoyed include âHarry Potter and the Chamber of Secretsâ, âCrooked Kingdomâ, âThe Hunger Games: Catching Fireâ and the book in the picture, âThe Wicked Kingâ!
đ Like Iâve said earlier, The Folk of the Air Trilogy by Holly Black is my all-time favorite YA Fantasy Series due to several reasons. I love the fact that it breaks the stigma that Fantasy books are unnecessarily long, the character development and world-building is phenomenal, it doesnât feature the usual âchosen oneâ trope and itâs totally unpredictable with a head-spinning number of plot twists even after being a first person narrative đ¤. I could literally rant about this series all day!
đ âThe Wicked Kingâ is the second book in this series and the sequel to âThe Cruel Princeâ. The unexpected ending of the first book left me craving for more and âThe Wicked Kingâ did not disappoint. There are so many plot twists which I never saw coming and THE ENDING! đđ I havenât read a more bewildering and shocking cliffhanger with a burning unanswered question. Iâm glad I didnât read it long before the release of the final book or Iâm afraid the curiosity mightâve actually killed me!
đThe Folk of the Air trilogy features some scenes from the modern world of today and doesnât have the typical âhigh-fantasyâ setting. So if youâre looking for a solid yet quick YA Fantasy read, do check this out!
