Lets start off with this is 3.5 stars...not 4 stars lol.
If you read my review of Bound...well this book doesn't get any better. I had to pause and start reading it again well because Amery and Ronin's relationship, noted it was better than the first book, still was way too quick for me.
There are erotic novels with just sex, and then there are erotic novels that actually have a story to tell. Granted Ronin and Amery both have their back stories, nothing really moved the story plot along in this novel. I enjoyed their hookups, I enjoyed how Amery stood up to Shiori (a waste of space), and I enjoyed the side characters. But there was still nothing there for me to enjoy and fully invest myself into their actual relationship. It's just a rope master and a girl who really likes to have sex with her hot studded man. They learn about each other, like all relationships, and they have their share of arguments. Shiori and Knox's story had me more interested than these two.
Also for the main guy to be Japanese, I wish there were more cultural elements in the story, other than rope mastery and martial arts. There is so much about Japan that could have been incorporated into this novel that was not taken advantage of.
It's a good read for something quick but not if you're looking for originality and something deep.
Granted, I read this series out of order and the third book gave me high hopes...so yeah a bit disappointed.
