Im not sure if I grew up without the problems associated with this book and that it wasn't that emotional for me. Eliza and Marjorie are both enduring familial struggles that no teenager should ever have to deal with and yet the adults still seem oblivious. They get sucked into their own generational thinking that they need to suck down their feelings regardless of who it affects or for how long. The kids were left to fight their own battle without support from their parents and/or teachers with whom they should have been able to confide. Delicates was a little bit of a disappointment because Sheets focused more on Wendall and the ghosts rather than the harder issues of this YA GN which brought down the tone of the first book to something more dreary and serious. It was a good message and I applaud the author for addressing these issues head-on with happy endings all around BUT this book was falsely advertised from the jovial themes of book 1.
