A mixture of thrilling elements: crime, sex and rebellion. No wonder it was a best-seller for 70 weeks. But these won’t make it great and popular even for now. Challenging the definition of justice, going deep into the extraordinary family culture of Italians, questioning the border between good and evil…And it should be said that the book doesn’t just sing praises of the gangsters. Though illustrating the happy ending of some people brought by the Don, it also describes the torment of the people in town of Corleone, casting doubt on the way Mafia exists at the same time. Using the third person point of view, Mario tells the story in a calm and cold fashion, yet my emotion goes back and forth with the characters involved.
