Releasing Keanu by Siobhan Davis

5.0

I went into this book knowing I would like it. So far, I have loved everything this author has written, but I didn't realize it would emotionally take hold of me the way it did. It's a little different from her normal work but still held what I love about her books most. A plot deep enough to drown yourself in.

Keanu thought he had found the love of his life, Selena. He gave her all the love he had to give, all the time and devotion but when she goes and rips his heart out of his chest and breaks it into a million pieces. He is left looking like an idiot, and his reaction to this heartache is drinking himself silly and screw everything and anything that moved, just to try and get her out of his mind, and his heart and his life. But of course, this little tick only masks it and for the most part, it wasn't helping nor was it working, so when Selena finds herself at his door, in need of his help... He sees this as a chance to try and get her back and he is willing to do whatever it took to make her his forever.

Selena has gone through more than any human being should go through, the trauma and the tragic back story to this girl were enough to cripple me. I found myself completely consumed by this woman and a bit of her story I could relate to. But the strength she showed even after all the pain, the suffering she had to endure was powerful and amazing, and she was just an incredible character and I think the author wrote her perfectly.

This second chance romance took me on a ride I didn't expect. It grabbed hold of my heart and didn't release it right until the book. I knew it would have depth and I knew it would have an emotional scene but damn it, I did not realize how deep this would run and how much this story would grab hold of me. It touches some pretty sensitive subjects, so there is a trigger warning. Seeing these two try and piece together a relationship and Keanu's heart that had been broken by this girl he wants back so badly was beautiful yet heartbreaking.

I think the author handles these triggering subjects with grace. It was very well written and thought out. She wrote this flawlessly and I found myself lost within her words.

Captivating, emotional, tragically beautiful and all-consuming... I couldn't put it down.

Another 5 Star read by Siobhan Davis.
