Vampire by Rebecca Zanetti

4.0

These books are a spin-off from the Dark Protectors series, but they can also be read independently! This one is the third novella in the Dark protector/Rebels series. This series revolves around a group of characters who are all part of an anger management group which is made up of kick ass supernatural beings. However, the completely human group leader, Dr Mariana Lopez has no idea.

Mariana moved away to a small town out in Indiana to flee from a stalker. Though her move went well and she's all settled in to the new community the nightmares continue to haunt her, she can't seem to shake off the feeling that something is terribly wrong. She begins to receive threatening messages and she soon realizes that the stalker she did everything she could to escape had made a come back. Though while dealing with all this there was one other complication in her life that she wasn't sure if she needed to find a solution for or not and that was Raine.

Raine is a powerful vampire/demon hybrid, but the catch is that he's living with a deadly curse that will cut his life short unless he finds his mate and claims her. You guessed it, he's found his mate in the most unexpected place, his anger management class. Mariana knows nothing about the supernatural world, and Raine has no plans to actually mate her. Though Raine can't tell her about the supernatural world as he is bound by laws not too, it doesn't stop him from wanting to protect her once he realized the danger she was in.

What I loved about the book was its pace, from the get go its action and story unfolds in front of your eyes and you can't seem to put the book down no matter how hard you try. My favourite part being when Raine learned of Mariana's stalker, he moved himself into her house so that he could protect her. Who doesn't love the living together in close proximity till you inevitably fall in love" trope. There was amazing chemistry between Mariana and Raine despite him not wanting to get involved with her in order to protect and shield her from his world and its dangers. But like I said the falling in love was inevitable, as the sexual tension built through out the book and made their final coming together SO satisfying.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book it was the perfect concoction of sexy and funny with a suspenseful plot that kept me unable to stop reading.
3.5/5!
