This was a ride.

I don't even remember how I came across this book because no one I follow has read it recently, but I decided to give it a try. I don't regret it, even though it was absolutely bonkers.

The book overall is not bad, and I actually really liked Shana and Roman. Even though their chemistry is a bit forced and he's declaring his love 24 hours after meeting her, they made a cute couple and a pretty badass at that. Also, the secondary characters were very loveable, and I cared about them, which doesn't usually happen with paranormal romances.

One of the things I liked the most was Roman's inner conflict; he was a monk in the Middle Ages when he was turned, so his religion and his existence clashed constantly, something that made him constantly miserable.

What happens is that around the 60% mark the author decides to add the cringiest and craziest thing they could imagine: telepathic sex. The first smut scene in this book is done telepathically, which each mc just chilling in their bedroom and having brain sex. It was WEIRD, but kind of interesting at the same time. I wonder how they came up with that concept. There were a few weird chapters after that, but nothing that topped the telepathic sex. Honestly, I would recommend this book just because of that scene.

The "villain" conflict resolution is rushed and poorly written, but I appreciate it; if the book was 50 pages longer I would've torn something apart.

I'm giving it a pretty high rating because the writing was good, and the characters felt believable to me. Now, I don't know if that's my perception solely because the audiobook narrator did a great job and made sure to use different voices for every character.
