This is exactly what it says on the tin - a fun romance between two characters who are polar opposites and rivals. It’s done in a much more interesting way than the usual for this genre, by dropping us in from the start where they’ve already been hooking up for ages, and then telling us most of their story in flashbacks.

Ilya in particular is a very fun character - he’s an asshole, and the author doesn’t try and convince us otherwise, but his insults are always so funny that you can’t help loving him anyways. Shane was sweet, and the two of them worked together surprisingly well.

The only reason this doesn’t get a higher score is the ending felt REALLY abrupt. Like, there needed to definitely be more abrupt. I’m aware there is a sequel, but it came out years later, and if I had read this at the time of release, I would have felt a bit cheated.
