This book had me staying up way past my 2 am bedtime. I really enjoyed the way it was written. The humor in the writing was subtle and flawlessly placed through the pages and the world building was informative in a way that was not slow or boring. Mackayla Lane, Mac for short, is the narrator and main character of this story. She is a slightly-materialistic and self-centered, pretty, small town girl from Georgia. Her sister, Alina, was murdered in Ireland where she studied and the police have issued it a cold-case. When Mac finally receives a distressed voicemail from Alina hours before her death, weeks after her funeral, Mac decides that she needs to pack up and head to Dublin to help solve and avenge her sister's death.
Mac was not ready for what she was about to learn about Alina, herself, her world and the many things that are not human living there.

Even though I am not yet attached or in love with Jerricho Barrens or Mac Lane (aka Elle Woods) I still really enjoyed reading the characterization of them and I think that, in time, I will be.
