Once in a Blue Moon by Vicki Covington

3.0

I think this is really a 3.5 star book, but that's not an option ... so ...
Listen, the story is good and I enjoyed getting to know the characters. But, there were too many instances of the author taking shortcuts to tell the story. I felt it could have been better developed and characters could have been a little more nuanced. It fell a little flat, in the end.
It was trying too hard to be Maupin's Tales of the City and not quite reaching those heights.
