A Man With One of Those Faces by Caimh McDonnell

4.0

3.5 stars rounded up to 4!

This book probably belongs to one of the longer books that I have read this year, but it has been very easy to read through due to how entertaining it is. It is one of those books that have extremely, distinctively quirky characters that might be an acquired taste for some people, but fortunately, it is right up my alley. In every novels that I've read whether or not the main character(s) is entertaining or interesting is a decisive factor for me to decide if I should continue reading on. Paul keeps me on the edge all the time, from his unlikely profession at the start, to his (unfortunately very relatable) living situation as well as his occasional social awkwardness.

Even though officially this is Caimh McDonnell's first novel, I'm familiar with his writing style due to having read Stranger Times before this (which was 5/5 stars for me). This book lacks what Stranger Things had to make it 5 stars, which is a touch of humanity in it. A Man with One of Those Faces is a wild ride indeed, but I cant help but feel like everything is still a bit surface level. Hopefully the next books in the series will explore the characters better.
