Lexicon by Max Barry
5.0
Probably a 4.7 bc nothing can be fully perfect. Lexicon tells an addictive, creative story of the motivations and communication at the core of the human identity. Plus, the section typography is possibly the most perfect tonal match I've ever seen.
"Within perfect walls, there is nothing worth protecting. There is, in fact, nothing. And so we exchange privacy for intimacy. We gamble with it, hoping that by exposing ourselves, someone will find a way in. This is why the human animal will always be vulnerable: because it wants to be."
"What does it sound like when who we are is expressed in its most fundamental form?" Lexicon will certainly leave you with "something to think about."
