Adrenaline Rush by C.M. Owens

2.0

You know when a new director gets ahold of a movie series, and everything just kind of goes sideways, and you’re like, what happened to everything previous? Yeah, that’s how this book feels.

Bringing back Drex’s sister could have given us three amazing badasses, slightly crazy heroines. Instead we get someone who has “gone soft” and then just over the top wackiness from Maya and Sara.

Kara was supposed to be the problem-solver because, unlike Drex, she “thought like her father.” We got one scene where she moved some articles off the tracking board, and then everything else was handled by Rush. I would have loved to see the two of them work together on a plan and actually come together as adults.

This novel felt like a quick wrap-up with a bunch of stuff pushed together and a giant cliffhanger, all in one. It felt like everything had been building to a Sara/Jude book, but it looks like that’s not in the works, which is a bummer. Even the finally good vs. evil bad was just kinda, meh.

ETA: It looks like things were building to a Sara/Jude book before Owens announced she was taking a step back from writing.
