The Kingmaker by Kennedy Ryan

I absolutely loved this first book. It has the perfect mix of tension, strong characters, and fleshed out characters. I was attached to every single one of them. Lennix is a strong Native American woman and Maxim is the "perfect" guy who you can relate to because he understands his privilege and how he can change the world. I love that this book makes the issues we are facing as a society accessible and easier to understand.
I think that is what I love most about this book is the balance and closeness to how society tells us to pick a side when we can all aim to work past the issues we have with each other to create a solid foundation for the future.
Now, when it comes to Lennix and Maxim, their relationship is sexy, steamy, and full of beautiful moments. There are moments when I laughed and moments when I felt the pain that Lennix felt. Also, reading from both Maxim and Lennix's perspectives made this story even more well done and I instantly read the sequel to this!
