Little Fires Everywhere, by Celeste Ng

4.0

I grew up about thirty minutes from Shaker Heights and can confirm that Heinen's really is the fanciest grocery store, and you really do have to drive your car up to the front so they can load your groceries in the back for you.

I love that this book makes you turn over the idea of motherhood and examine it from every angle. The mother of four in the suburbs, the single mom, surrogacy, adoption, biological motherhood, abortion, everything is covered here with tenderness and fierceness. Ng doesn't give you the answers: she gives you the questions.
