Fire Dragon's Baby by Juno Wells, Scarlett Grove

3.0

This was a fun, quick read. It didn't take me long to read it and it was a nice way to pass the time. Celeste has been in the mating lottery for years and has really wanted to mate a Draconian. She is ready for the next part of her life to start but she isn't sure about the Galatonians. They are newer and have a bit more of a barbaric way. It also doesn't help that she doesn't get to meet her mate and everything is on a fast track and it takes a year to get to their planet.
Celeste takes the journey and she is pretty believable on reactions to the speed of things and how things go down. It makes her nervous. She has never met or spoken to her mate, Salvatt. Salvatt has a hard time trying to keep his mating impulse in check in order to make it to when Celeste arrives on his planet but it does leave their relationship with some problems. Salvatt needs to mate and mate now since the process started somewhat before she got there but they haven't had a chance to get to know each other at all. The sex is explicit and not very frequent, which fits the story since they are separated. Celeste is a little leery, understandably and Salvatt kinda gets it but they are two different races with different ways of life, without a great foundation of knowing the other person. Things happened a little quickly in the middle to end of book and things solved themselves a little too fast and not enough/believable enough explanation for the speed of it. I know it was a short book but I would have liked a touch more relationship building/connection between them before everything became rainbows. I did enjoy the story and am definitely interested in reading the rest of the series and seeing where it goes.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
