When We Dead Awaken by Henrik Ibsen

2.0

I’m not usually one to dismiss an old work of art because of its political incorrectness or engrained misogyny, but this one was so ensconced in these that I couldn’t enjoy anything it had to say. At its core, a story of terrible, abusive people—chiefly, a successful artist who can’t decide between the poor women he’s successively cast aside—without any charm or insight to redeem it.
