Woooo!! This was a wild ride! I binged this book in less than 24 hours, it's a real page turner.
Alison doesn't fit in her perfect life. She's born poor but married rich and her entourage let her know at every turn. Her husband is a very successful consultant making 7 figures... or was.
Tom is killed in a gang-related shooting and Alison soon learns he was involved in drug dealing. His former "employer" request Alison to pay the debt Tom owed, 125k$ but all of her accounts are frozen and she is being investigated by the police and DEA. There is only one choice left : pick up her husband's drug route to pay back the drug lord and earn some money...
I love a good psychological thriller. Alison is in disbelief throughout the whole book and tries to find some sense by comparing it to what she saw in the movies. I got huge Weeds and Breaking Bad(TV shows) vibes while reading this. You just.can't.stop.reading. I was on the edge of my seat all along!
However, the problem we often have with Thrillers is the ending. It's hard to have a good ending and, unfortunately, this book missed it. The ending felt rushed, there was a huge plot hole and it felt flat. That right there makes it lose a star for me.
It is still a very good book and entertaining but I guess the ending is always a hit or miss with Thrillers. 😅
