The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy

4.0

This book was a gift to me last year and I had no idea if it was a story or non-fiction etc. All I knew is that social media loves it for it's short snippets of wisdom and beautiful drawings.

When I realised that I was essentially a string of positive and uplifting quotes and advice I sighed a bit. I thought it was just a series of feel good posters that had been bound together and sold for $£$£$.

But I purposely stopped reading it like a book and focused on each page for a moment. On one of them I realised 20 minutes had gone by and I was still staring at it fuzzy eyed and thinking.

It was actually quite touching how the mole, boy, fox and horse were used as a common thread to link the pages. I ended up thinking about each statement for quite a while and some actually got me quite emotional.

I've even put tabs on the pages that really hit me so that I can go back to them in the future.

Though the pages make me think one way as an adult, I would love to read them to my kids in a few years to see the childs take on some of it.
