It's fiineeee. I just don't think I connected with this at all. I liked the religious commentary and the main character was alright. That's about it.
The dialogue read too wooden and unnatural. Maybe it's meant to be like the dialogue in a horror movie? Either way, I just did not like reading it. I also didn't like the quippy remarks of the MC - again, it felt like some Joss Whedon script.
The other characters also felt one-note, which made it less fun and the ending less impactful. I didn't buy the MC's conflicted emotions over them or the theme of 'not being your parents. Because she kind of really is?? Maybe it's ironic. But it was pretty blatantly spelt out.
