The Doctor in Unit H by Kris Cook

4.0

Jaris has had only one love of his life and he refuses to give up on him...even if he is in jail for a crime he didn't commit. He is shocked when he gets a call from that very man asking him to come visit his sick mother.

Maddox wanted to sever all ties from Jaris, but when his sick mother asked him to call, he had no choice. Whatever happens, he cannot let his walls down around Jaris because Jaris deserves better than him. Yes, he was sent to jail. No, he didn't do it, but proving it will be next to impossible, and he no longer believes in faith or hope. Or so he says.

I liked this one, but it did flip between past and present and sometimes the transitions were not as smooth as it could be. I kind of believe it was the word count and trying to keep it novella length. It did have a good story and progression, and it also has the instalove. Some parts of the story were rushed and not as developed as I would have liked, but overall, it was still enjoyable. 3.5, but leaning towards 4 stars.
