Pick Six by Maggie Rawdon

Did not finish book. Stopped at 55%.
The first huge thing I did not like about this book was the overuse of pronouns in place of characters’ names. For example, there was an entire chapter where two characters are talking about the FMC and never use her name - just she/her. I skimmed two chapters and names were used twice?! I found that I was constantly correcting and adding names to make the book make sense and it was exhausting and taking the enjoyment out of the story. After the two chapters of no names just pronouns, I started skimming to see if I actually liked the story. It was ok, one of my least favourite tropes is fake dating (because we all know how it’s going to end!), so it was an uphill battle from the start. Add in a possessive male and a “why would he ever want a plain girl like me” FMC - it wasn’t grabbing me. I also read a couple of the spicy scenes and while hot, they were a little formulaic and while there was a lot of praise, it felt forced and a bit unnatural. So, I’m out - it was never going to be more than a 3 star book just due to the writing issues.
