The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak

a touching, heart-breaking tale about trauma, love, war and loss.

i felt every word deep in my heart and deeply resonated with each character, understanding their pain and actions. the switch between time frames and perspectives was done in such a way that it flowed nicely and didn't interrupt the flow of the story.

the theme of generational trauma and the effect on diaspora was hitting close to home...oof.

by the end of it i broke down crying.

would definitely recommend listening to the audiobook as the narrators are so perfect and it really adds another layer of emotion.
